Lebanon, Kentucky Jailer J. Barry Brady, CJM

Acknowledgements

May 12, 2003 “This facility should be commended for the improvements that have been made during this administration. The facility is clean, orderly, with a sound physical plant. Most impressive is the attitude of self-assessment and the desire to improve the operation. Jailer Brady is to be commended for his desire to improve this organization.” Ray Sabbatine, Criminal Justice Consulting Former Fayette County Jailer October 20, 2003 “I am very pleased with the progress that you and the staff have made with the facility. You are well on the way to having a first class operation.” Robert Powell, Powell Consulting, LLC Retired, Director of Local Facilities Kentucky Department of Corrections January 4, 2004 “We appreciate the good job that you do in your operation of the Marion County Detention Center for the benefit of not only Marion County, but other counties who use your facility.” Barry Bertram, Commonwealth’s Attorney John Bertram, Assistant Prosecutor December 21, 2004 “It was great to see you this past week-your facility was standing tall as usual – Keep up the great job.” J. David Donahue, Former Deputy Commissioner Kentucky Department of Corrections April 27, 2005 “Good management at the Marion County Detention Center has been a shot in the arm for the county’s budget. We were planning to put $350,000 into the jails budget but because numbers have stayed so good, we haven’t had to put a penny into the jail budget so far.” Dave Hourigan Former Marion County Judge /Executive June 1, 2005 “The county is in good financial shape primarily because of the jail. If Marion County didn’t have a jail, it would cost approximately $600,000 a year to house prisoners in a neighboring county jail.” Dave Hourigan Former Marion County Judge /Executive August 30, 2005 “I want to thank you for your hospitality on Monday when we visited your facility. You must have the cleanest jail in the state of Kentucky; this is to be commended. By speaking with you and seeing your facility first hand, it is obvious that you have a very well organized and efficient operation.” John D. Reese, Commissioner Kentucky Department of Corrections March 8, 2007 “The outstanding fiscal performance of the Detention Center continues to be of great financial benefit for our county. Only six (6) detention centers in the state actually “break even” in their yearly operational costs—I’m proud to say Marion County Detention Center, under the leadership of Jailer Barry Brady, is one of them. Many counties our size still subsidize their jail budgets $500,000 or more per year!! This money saved allows our Fiscal Court to provide improving roads, EMS, fire and other vital services.” John G. Mattingly Marion County Judge/Executive March 30, 2011 Barry – Congratulations on the accreditation! I hope you saw the story I did in our September newsletter about your efforts, and I’d like to update the story w/the successful audit. Can you send me a few details? Of course I’m on deadline! I would have to have the information by tomorrow (Thursday). Thanks so much, Lisa Lamb Director of Communications Kentucky Department of Corrections
April 6, 2011 “Barry, as always, a first class effort and result. Congrats.” Frederick Higdon Attorney at Law Spragens & Higdon PSC
April 6, 2011 “Congratulations to the entire MCDC team for a 100% victory!!! You are setting the standard for the entire state and should be proud of your efforts.” Joyce Day Security Consultant Real Time Detention, LLC April 6, 2011 “Barry, this is a tremendous accomplishment for you and your staff. Congrats again!!.” Caroline Mudd Parole Board Member Kentucky Department of Corrections April 6, 2011 “Barry, congratulations to you and your staff. I went through this process at KSR and Corrections Training. Unless you have been through it I really don’t think you can appreciate all of the hard work and effort that goes into it. This just shows what a top notch organization you guys are running and its one heck of an achievement. Again, congratulations on a job well done.” Mike Ethridge Retired, Kentucky Department of Corrections May 16, 2011 “Barry, thank you for the invite the other day to your ACA close-out get-together. I am sorry I was unable to make it, but I do want you all to know again that I am very proud that my hometown jail is the first to be accredited by ACA in Kentucky! Great job to all of your staff and I look forward to working with you in the years to come. Have a great week.” Brad Adams Kentucky Department of Corrections Corrections Program Administrator Classification Branch
